History of Chapter 2 Incorporated

Company Profile

Chapter 2 Incorporated first started in Lake Mills, Wisconsin in 1973. Original owners George and Marilyn Lohman opened Chapter 2 as a tool and die shop that specialized in the making of jigs, fixtures, dies, molds, and machine tools for companies within the manufacturing industry. This was the basis of the company’s operations until Mr. and Mrs. Lohman sold the company to Tim and Tracy Johnston, the current owners, in 1989.

After taking over the company operations Mr. and Mrs. Johnston added a new dimension to Chapter 2’s services in offering automation machine design and build services. Here the company specialized in building automated machines and equipment for companies in the manufacturing industry.

In 1996 Chapter 2 once again added to it’s diverse selection of services by implementing the ability to do high volume production and precision machining. Today, production machining stands as Chapter 2’s core competency. As a climate controlled facility and with our continuous investment in equipment and our quality processes Chapter 2 has become an industry leader in these services.

To compliment Chapter 2’s ability to machine, in 2005, Chapter 2 began to invest in its ability to provide product component assemblies for many of its customers taking advantage of its machining services. Today, Chapter 2 strives in its ability to machine, source, assemble and monitor assembly projects ranging anywhere from a few components to hundreds.

In 2010 Chapter 2 was at it again adding to its ever growing list of capabilities with the addition of fabrication and painting services. We’ve committed over 10,000 sq. ft. to the cutting, forming and welding of fabricated parts from small components to larger structural items. We’ve also committed our new 14,000 sq ft facility to wet paint operations specializing in medium to large sized items (call for more detail). With more expansion in these divisions planned the sky is the limit at Chapter 2.

Chapter 2 broke ground once again in 2014. This time adding an 18,000 sq. ft. addition to extend upon production operations, including, but not limited to, CNC machining, and precision machining. The space didnt stay empty for long, as it now houses some of the main production operations in the facility. This includes a quality lab that houses our tw0 Zeiss Contura G2 CMMs with Calypso software, and many new machinining centers. Open capacity is still available!

Though Chapter 2 has moved and added to its main focus of business throughout the years we still offer the services that Chapter 2 was founded upon. We offer a full service tool room with journeymen tool makers working around the clock to cater to our customers’ needs. When it comes to jigs, fixtures, dies and molds as well as machined tools and maintenance work you will find no one better.
